Locals Only: Nashville

One of our favorite parts of opening a new store, like our Edgehill Village location in Nashville, Tennessee, is getting to know our new friends and their hangouts. We asked some especially dapper Music City residents for a few tips on stylish living, why they choose to call Nashville home and, of course, where’s the best spot for hot chicken.

K PHILLIPS, MUSICIAN AND WEST TEXAS NATIVE

“I live with my band in this house. We rehearse every day; I write every day. At night, we go see bands play, then we come back and jam and listen to records. Every day is built around the craft.”
“My new album is called Dirty Wonder. It’s the greatest breakup album ever written.”

JONNY P, MUSICIAN AND SELF-DESCRIBED “MOTOR-LOVING GUY” (THAT’S HIS ’64 CHEVY IMPALA BELOW)

“My favorite thing about Nashville is the sense of community. I love walking into a spot and almost always seeing a familiar face.”
“My dad is my style icon. He has had his suits made by the same tailor in the Bronx since he was in his early twenties, when he became a preacher. He used to take me to fabric stores on the weekends and teach me about textiles and quality. I feel at my best in a suit.”

BENJAMIN VANDIVER, INTERIOR DESIGNER AND J.CREW CUSTOMER SINCE 1995

“I’m in New York most of the time now, but having a home in Nashville and New York makes me appreciate both cities even more. I never get burned out on either place. I’m always on the go.”
“I placed my first J.Crew order over the phone from a catalog when I was either a freshman or sophomore in high school. It was for a grey T-shirt with a little green and yellow tab on the collar and a pair of sunglasses.”
