How It’s Done: The Cropped Trench

We asked our friend Jenny—fashion director of OG street style blog “The Sartorialist,” statement-earring aficionado and mom to adorable five-month-old beagle Charlie—to show us three ways and three places she’s wearing our cropped trench.

Sketching and people watching at Stumptown Coffee in Greenwich Village

“My favorite thing about this trench is definitely the detachable striped cuffs—so smart! And I love how the swingy shape of the pants plays off the shape of the trench. This outfit has
such a cute personality.”

On her fashion illustrations:”I love drawing the way I would dress.”

“In my day-to-day job, I look for interesting stores and items to feature on ‘The Sartorialist’ as well as work on my own illustrations. Sometimes I meet up with my boyfriend Scott (who founded ‘The Sartorialist’ to plan the next book idea or trip—whether it’s to Europe for Fashion Week or to photograph somewhere like Bhutan or India.”

Getting ready for dinner at Scott's apartment

“This striped set is so beautiful. It feels very chic and polished, but it’s knit, so it’s also incredibly comfortable. Perfect for dinner— you can eat as much as you want without unbuttoning!”

“I’ve wanted a beagle my entire life, and Charlie is my first dog, so I’m very in love with her and her funny personality. She’s now five months old and enjoys napping on my lap all day and barking at food she believes to be hers (which is all food).”

Browsing art books at McNally
Jackson Books

“Nothing says casual trip to the bookstore like a tulle skirt, right? This is a fun outfit—the oversized earrings and tulle skirt make the button-up and cropped trench feel a bit more whimsical.”

What’s on Jenny’s reading list right now? “World Film Locations: Florence, a guide to different movies filmed in Florence. It’s giving me good suggestions for what films to watch next."
